Animal Farm

I understand that this book is filled with historical parallels and all but I really don't like it. I just had to take a test and am in the middle of writing a paper for it. It's pure torture...
Ok, not really..but you get my point. It feels like a waste of time to study this book just to forget it later. Although, it may come in handy someday. Lesson learned: "Never try to make a Utopia or you will fail and all die in the end." Yup, that pretty much sums it up.

Oh, and feed your animals or they will rebel and kill you all. Just sayin'.....

Cooking

I love to cook! It's one of my passions...I think. Typically, I don't like to cook desserts or little snacks to have around the house but I do like to cook BIG meals! Preferably I like to use the grill.
Well, just recently I found this list of 100 Chinese dishes to try before you die. Looking through it, I realized that not all of them are from China but it's close enough. :) Some that popped out to me the most though was this hand-pulled cotton candy called Dragon's Beard..that looked soo good! There were weird things listed too, like Beggar's Chicken, Chicken Feet (it's literally chicken feet), Century Egg (an egg that's stored for a month or more), Grass Jelly, and Fried Milk. Yes, there are some weird dishes out there! My goal is to try/cook all 100 dishes. It will be a lot of work but it would definitely be worth it!

Dancing in the Kitchen

I already love to dance but there's something about dancing in the kitchen while cooking that is just awesome! Especially while listening to kpop! I love to go around the island, grabbing my ingredients, singing, and doing the dance moves to the MVs. I've seen them all so much that they just come natural!
Even if I'm not cooking I just like to bring my laptop in the kitchen, play my youtube list, and dance while doing school or something! Or drinking Sweet Tea from a wine glass...hehe :)
Whatever it is I do enjoy spending time in the kitchen.

Outings=Injuries

It's official. I cannot step out of the house without getting injured in someway. Usually it's my poor balance and I just step on my foot wrong and my ankle hurts a bit, or I'll hit something, walk into something, trip over something....the list continues.
Well, today was no exception! We went to visit my Papa and walked down to the river. On the way back I stepped on a stick and it poked me, breaking the skin...so, I started bleeding. After that we picked some tangerines and I felt something crawling on my feet(I was wearing flip-flops). Turns out I had ants all over my feet, while brushing them off I got bit about three times. During this time some mosquitoes decided to partake in my misfortune and sucked the blood out of my leg while I was busy with the ants....after brushing two mosquitoes off another one joined in.....I was just not fortunate today....

Makeup

I'm someone who doesn't wear makeup. Never had a desire and I think I look more natural without it. Well, just today I decided I wanted to play around with it. 'Cause to me, I would use it for a costume or something. I had the best time. I went crazy with the blue and green eye shadow.
Well, what brought this on is me wanting to dress up as this tough lady with dark eyeliner and the likes for Halloween coming up. I wanted to see if I could pull it off before just dressing up like that. But my mom didn't have an extra black eyeliner thing so I just played around with other stuff.
It turned out pretty great. :) I even fluffed my hair up and almost looked like Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter. :D Except my hair isn't black.
Anyways I had a lot of fun.

Korean Pop

   I'm officially addicted!!!!
This genre is simply amazing!!!! It's exciting! Even if I don't know what their saying... :} I already fell in love with G-Dragon, BigBang, Super Junior, SHINee, and Beast/B2st. These guys are amazing! (And good looking if I do say so myself.)
When my youtube channel suggested them at first I was like, "Uh, I guess I'll just click on it and see." And that moment sealed my future. I just can't give it up now! It's like eating my favorite candy. :} And the good thing is! I don't know what their saying soooo, I don't ever know if they're singing something bad! lol
Below are some of my favorites and a link to watch them: :D

Geometry

I really don't like this subject. Just having to use the compass and straightedge and constructing all these shapes! Plus, memorizing all the different angles and how their equations work...I really don't like it at all. Geometry is important for life and all but I'd rather not have to suffer a whole year of it. To be honest I don't like Math at all! I've always been really bad at it. It's just the side of my brain that decided not to function properly.
Despite this, I do try. But currently I have a D in Geometry and it's only my 2nd week. :( It's not turning out very well for me. I'm going to have to really buckle down and bring my grade up. I get upset if I have a grade below a B. Sometimes I really can't help it though. Some things are just really hard to understand, like Geometry.
Looks like there's some tutoring in my future. :(

Understanding Women

Today this has been a popular topic around me! First it was with my dad and mom in the living room. We were talking about the windows being open. My mom doesn't really like it but my dad does. So, he will ask if he can open them and she will say "Sure, go ahead." But, what my dad doesn't realize is that what she's really saying is 'NO!' Just something strange about us women. We tend to avoid the arguments if we can help it. So even though our words are saying 'yes' are tone is saying 'no.'
Even now I'm talking with a friend(a guy) and we are discussing how we don't understand each other. For myself, what I don't get about guys, is that they like to prove how strong they are. It's quite hilarious and proves for some wonderful entertainment! It's even better when you arm wrestle them and win. Of course, they get sad about it but it definitely makes a woman feel better, that they can beat a guy at an arm wrestling contest. :)
Either way, it's quite obvious that we will never fully understand each other! But if we did, wouldn't that take out so much excitement in life? I mean, if we knew each other that well we'd know what to expect! That's no fun! Life is so much better with surprises!!! :D

Home Movies

Watching home movies just opens you up to some embarrassing memories! Though funny, you're just like....that was me? As I write this I'm in the living room with my family and they are watching a time when I was scared to go down the hallway with the lights off. Of course I don't remember. But these people are laughing like crazy! I guess I should be happy that I was a good source of entertainment but...wow. Makes you wonder how many memories would be lost if it wasn't for video cameras.
Don't get me wrong, I don't totally dislike home movies. I find them quiet hilarious. Maybe it's just the idea that people are laughing at you. At least for me, I mentally shrink inside this little shell. But I laugh along with everyone else. Because it's funny!
     I love memories... :)

Tuck Everlasting

Tuck Everlasting is a book written by Natalie Babbitt. It's about this family that drank from a special spring and now, can't die! Before I knew it was a book I saw the movie. I liked it. So, of course I had to read the book. I was a little suprised by the difference, though I shouldn't have. Movies never tend to follow the book. Anyways, turns out that in the book Winnie is only 11. *_* Honestly, I preferred the older version in the movie but there was something sweet and innocent about it being a little girl.
The book itself is very short, each chapter is only a few pages and there are only 25 numbered chapters. It would be perfect to read to a small child as a bedtime story or for the child to read itself. They would enjoy it a lot more than someone older. Though, cute, it feels lacking in details and more of a story. It's very straight forward. But that's what makes it perfect for kids. They can't be entertained as long as an older crowd.
Nevertheless, if you've seen the movie it wouldn't hurt to pick it up. Five chapters or so a day would only be about 10 pages. It's really easy and enjoyable in its own sense.
I give the book 3 stars but that's merely because of my age, a child could love the book and want it read over and over again. :)

Papers

I never seem to enjoy writing papers for school. The first one is usually alright, then the second, then the third and then comes the book analysis. It just never ends. But the smaller ones I don't mind. Even the book analysis papers, whether they be character sketches, the conflict, or the theme, though, annoying, aren't so bad. Oh no, it's when that five page research paper comes along..
They are generally not so bad, but it's just coming up with what to write about! I've always struggled to gather my thoughts and put it into words. In my head it's all there and I've got it, but as soon as the first question comes it all goes whoosh, right on out.
It can be quiet frustrating at times but the more I do them the better I get at processing the information in my head. It's all in there! I just have to get it all out to fill five pages. It makes me thankful that my teacher gives me an entire year to write five pages. :)

Reading Material

People ask me all the time what's my favorite genre when it comes to books. And every time I go blank, in my head I'm thinking "Well, let me read it and I'll let you know if I like it." To be honest I don't have a favorite genre. I like books from Harry Potter to Macbeth, to To Kill a Mockingbird to The Host. I mean, it really ranges everywhere. Right now I'm discovering how much I like Lois Lowry. She wrote The Giver and I thought it was amazing but I read it back in 8th grade. Now, I'm currently reading Gathering Blue by her and can hardly put it down! Usually, I like to have a modest respectful like romance in my reading material but so far she hasn't given me that and I still enjoy her books. It truly amazes me.
Another recent discovery is plays. Just, plays in general! I love William Shakespeare, Bernard Shaw, Lorraine Hansberry, and any other author I can get my hands on. All of the ones I have read have some form of comedy in it. But I didn't always like plays. It wasn't until my second year in Literature Analysis that I began to appreciate it. One of our books was Cerano de Bergerac, and it was  ahmazzzing! I laughed my head off in class! Sometimes plays have to take a little more effort to enjoy but once you do they are simply great. :)
If you're not a reader I suggest you become one because once you pick up just the right book it's like being thrown into Wonderland and you just can't get enough of it.

Driver's Ed

This terrifies me. There. I said it. I am simply terrified to start driving! The pressure is on me to watch other drivers and not mess up. I've never been good under pressure. And in 11 weeks or so, when I go to take my driving test, I'm going to be freaking out. I can picture it now, I'll have butterflies and I'll be really shaky. It's not gonna be good.
Today on the way to the library with my dad, I was voicing all my fears and he agreed that driving is scary. He shared some of the accidents he's been in with me and I told him that's the last thing I'd need to happen. If it did happen I'd probably fight to keep from getting behind that wheel ever again. A good example is when I recked on my bicycle. Turned to sharp and slid in the dirt...haven't been on one since, at least, if I have I wasn't comfortable with it and freaking out the entire time. I still have the scars from my knees scraping the dirt.
All in all, I can't say I'm excited to start driving. Sure, in time I'll probably get comfortable with it or even, my first time driving I'll get through it with flying colors! Either way, in the end I know I won't feel the same way as I do now(at least I hope).

The Notebook

*Spoiler Alert*
Before I had even heard of Nicholas Sparks I had seen the majority of movies inspired by his books. It wasn't until just recently that I realized he wrote one of my favorite movies ever, A Walk to Remember. It was then that I went on a rampage. I looked him up found the books I already knew from watching the movies and stocked up. Now, I have a stack of about five Sparks books and just finished my second one. Of course, A Walk to Remember was my first and I recommend it to everyone. Now, the next one I read was The Notebook. Though the story is simply magnificent some of the details within are questionable. Despite this, by the end of the book Nicholas had me in tears. It wasn't something I could hold in. Just Noah's love for Allie, even though she didn't remember him in her old age, was beautiful.
Every time I think about the book or the movie I am reminded of my Great Grandparents. Not too long ago my Great Grandmother passed leaving my Great Grandfather behind. I didn't spend much time with her in her last few moments but I heard that she was struggling with remembrance as well as Allie did.
A few weekends ago, at a family reunion, I was sitting next to my Great Grandfather when an older gentleman approached us and talked to him. I remember letting my eyes wander, giving them privacy but I just couldn't make my ears leave their conversation. I won't go into details about their conversation but in the end my Great Grandfather said something along the lines of, "To me she was perfect and there is no one in this entire world who can replace her." I just about broke into tears then after he said that and even now as I rewrite his words. Even though that's not exactly what he said the meaning is very clear.
Sometimes in a world of fiction there is truth. Nicholas sparks said so himself that The Notebook was inspired by people in his life. And sometimes, based off of true stories are some of the best out there. So much more real than what we can create in our head. Even though loss is a sad thing it's a way of life. But God created such a wonderful place to live with Him, where we won't have to endure pain such as loss. And in the future I can only pray to have a man that will love me like Noah loved Allie or like my Great Grandfather loved my Great Grandmother or how God loved His Son or how Jesus loved us. You don't have to be a romantic or poet to understand love, it's so simple, but yet so powerful.
Now, back to reviewing this book. Really, it is a good story. But when you get to the chapter title Moving Water it's a bit...detailed. I was really disappointed and just kind of flipped over until the scene was over. There were other parts in the book I would have loved to take a white out to. Other than those few moments the story in itself really was good. Allie and Noah both made horrible mistakes while they were apart and together but they had a happy-ish ending.
I don't recommend the book, just in the sense of situations and vivid details and I'll give the book a rating of about 2 1/2 stars.

Right Brain vs. Left Brain

Before I created this blog I took a test. A test to see which side of my brain was more dominant. I already knew the outcome would be the right side but I was still a bit curious. At the end of the test it gave me percentages and and let me know what part of my left brain was most dominant and which part of my right brain. My left was most dominant in symbolic, which pretty much helps me memorize math formulas easily. My right was most dominant with being fantasy-oriented. Which simply means I'm able to process information with creativity and I learn better when I'm emotionally involved. None of that was surprising though. What was surprising was what each part of my brain I was least dominant with. For my right it was randomness. I could handle that, I'm not a very random person. But what floored me was the result for the left side of my brain. Apparently I'm only about 13% Logical. Which means I am 4% more random. That's outrageous! It told me because I go with more of a 'gut' feeling instead of thinking it through I'm typically bad at math and science questions. Which, is a little true. I'll admit. Of course, it's not like I completely trust the results, yet they were partially true.
